That’s quite a deep and meaningful title, isn’t it?
So, what do I mean when I talk about finding meaning in adversity?
As you know, I’m a rescue dog and I had a pretty rough start in life. I can choose the lessons that I take from those early years though. Every painful experience contains a lesson and it is completely up to us what that lesson is.
You see, whatever the lesson is, we’re making it up, so it makes sense to choose something that makes us feel better, not worse, right?
In my early years, I was shouted at and worse. I’m sure you’ve had days when other humans have been pretty horrible to you too, so we won’t dwell on it! Now, I could choose to tell myself that they were mean to me because I didn’t deserve any better, that I did something wrong and therefore I deserved what they did.
If I told myself that, day in day out, what would that do to me?
Except, that’s just not true, is it?
What about if I choose to tell myself that I am strong, that I am resilient and that while I would never have chosen to be in that situation, I can now face any challenge that might be ahead of me and help others along the way.
If that’s the lesson, what would that do to me?
What would happen if you chose a different lesson? What would happen if that little voice in your head started to tell you that you are strong and resilient?
Be aware of the lessons that you’re carrying with you and this week, if they’re not making you feel better, change them. It really can be that simple!
#TeamLuna, you can choose the meaning.
