You humans have got a bit of a problem when it comes to ‘time’.
After a lot of observatory research, I have come to the conclusion that you’re not as smart as you like to think you are.
I hear the same old things tumbling out of your mouths, over and over again.
‘I don’t have time to play with you right now.’
‘I would love for us to have a longer walk, but I’m running late.’
‘I’m too tired to cook, let’s get a takeaway.’
Ok, so I don’t mind that last one, but what is it with you humans and time? You know that it’s not a weird external force that has control over you, don’t you? You know that actually, you have complete control over your time?
When you say that you ‘don’t have time to play’ you’re really saying ‘I don’t want to play with you right now and I want to do something else instead.’
It’s as simple as that.
Time is a funny thing. The way you measure it is flawed. Forget that annoying beepy thing you wear on your wrist and have a think about this…
For me, when you’re not here and I’m home alone, time moves so slowly. That’s why I have to find things to occupy myself and I’m sorry if you don’t always approve of my choices. I bet when you’re in the dullest of dull meetings, time moves at the same speed.
Then, the second you get home, time moves faster than the speed of light. Which, by the way, is faster than a whippet. Being with you humans is the best thing ever and it makes time move too quickly. You know when you have your friends over and you open the laughter inducing grape juice, it doesn’t take long before you’re saying ‘where did the time go?’
Here’s my point. Time is something you can be in charge of. If you want super-happy times where the hands on the clock (that don’t actually look like hands, but whatever) aren’t even a consideration because you’re too busy living in the moment, you need to make better choices about what you do with your time.
This moment is all you have and take it from me, wasting it waiting for the fleeting moments you can spend doing the things that make you happy is no life at all.
